BZ '18–’45. A monument, a town, two dictatorships
Permanent exhibition in the victory monument
“BZ '18–'45. A monument, a town, two dictatorships” is a permanent exhibition underneath the victory monument. The exhibition deals with the history of the Bolzano victory monument that was built from 1926 to 1928 by the fascist regime and many Italian artists, based on designs by the architect Marcello Piacentini. It also offers critical engagement with the period 1918-1945, Italian fascism and the national socialist occupation. Finally, the museum showcases the urban redevelopment in the last 1920s when the fascist regime was attempting to create a new “Italian” city.
